Reaching Out 2 The World

The Time is Now

Friends, the time has finally arrived.

Over the next 60 days I’ll be looking to raise funds for the Kayamandi Kids. It’s been almost 2 years since I first met Mama Zulu, her amazing family, and the incredible kids at Ikya Primary School, and I’m pleased to say I’ll be headed back! That means for the next 60 days I need your help with spreading this message. I’m looking to reach as many people as I can, and know that you are all up for this task. mk1

This September I’ll be arriving back in Cape Town where I’ll anxiously make my way back to the Township I called home for nearly 4 months. I’m looking to make this trip even more outstanding than the last but in order to do that I’ll need your help. I have two main objectives this time around.

For those that followed me on my previous trip or maybe referenced something to do with Africa which in turn resulted in me telling you everything about my journey… you know how much fun I had. I cherished my times working and playing with the students but I was lucky enough to experience even more than that. This time around it’s my goal to give back. I want to provide an experience where the kids of Kayamandi can experience South Africa the way I and so many other tourists are able to. I’m talking a trip to Table Mountain, a tour of the beautiful new soccer stadium built for the 2010 World Cup, a safari, a trip to the beach, and much much more! Not only will these kids have the chance to learn and experience their own culture in a way they’d likely never be able to do but they’ll be sure to learn so much along the way. And I want all of you to be a part of this! I’ll be blogging the whole way through, and offer as much of a connection to our world as I can. I hope you follow along!Image

I’m also looking to raise a significant amount of money for the school I once worked with. I want to purchase school materials and provide the school with as much as I can. Again, this is something I just can’t do on my own. But I can promise you that all money funded for this project will be going towards the children of Kayamandi.

In return for all the help, Dan Sellers and I have come up with a really neat list of “perks”. We spent a lot of time on these and truly feel you’ll find them special. We are offering everything from postcards to published picture books depicting our journey with the kids. We also came up with a really neat shirt which will be available to contributors. Not only that but you’ll each have a real connection with what is going on and how the money is being used by following along with this blog.

This journey will be special, and you’re going to want to be a part of it. Please help by liking, sharing, and of course by following along.
